KIC Offers Long-Duration Shield for SlimKIC-II Thermal Profiler

(San Diego, CA -- October 16, 1998) : KIC Thermal Profiling offers an optional long-duration shield for use with its pass-through SlimKIC(tm)-II Thermal Profiler. The shield enables the profiler to maintain its specified accuracy of +/-2C at temperatures of up to 150C or as long as 65 minutes. It is designed for use in applications such as the tack-dry and curing of printed circuit boards.

The new SlimKIC-II also offers more efficient data transmission and a higher temperature tolerance. All three models of the profiler are now rated at 105C for internal operating temperatures, and may go as high as 120C without damaging the unit.

The DataLogger model reords up to 60,000 data points, allowing lengthy profiles to include numerous data points. At up to 60 readings per second, it provides the highest data resolution available.

The Transmitter model is the only pass-through thermal profiler that sends part temperature data to a remote receiver via wireless RF transmission. The data is displayed on a PC at up to 20 samples per second, enabling users to view profiles in real time, cutting profiling time in half. Now running at a higher baud rate, the new SlimKIC-II provides faster and more efficient data transmission.

The Dual SlimKIC-II model combines the functions of both the high-capacity data storage model and the real-time transmitting model in a single unit. The three versions are powered by a single 9-volt alkaline battery, may be used with up to 12 Type K thermocouples and are user-calibrated for greater convenience.

For thermal profiling, SlimKIC-II works in conjunction with KIC software to provide profile prediction, multiple peak temperatures, slopes and dwell times. Both SlimKIC and the process controller may be run on the same PC.
