KIC Press Release June 25, 2003 - KIC Introduces Thermocouple Kit Solutions

(San Diego, CA -- June 25, 2003) : KIC, the leader of thermal process development and control software and winner of multiple VISION awards, announces two KIC Thermocouple (TC) Kit Solutions, each consisting of color-coded TC wires, aluminum tape and a thermally insulated sleeve.

The thermocouple solutions are part of KIC‘s overall lead-free profiling kit and will aid in the transition to lead-free. The colorful TC wires in both kits conveniently relate graphed profile data to the TC board location. Additionally, the aluminum tape provides quick TC attachment and can be removed easily after profiling without causing damage. The thermally insulated sleeve keeps multiple TCs neat and tightly bundled during profiles.

Comprised of the three elements, KIC‘s thermocouple solutions are available in two kits: a standard-temperature kit for normal SMT reflow and wavesolder applications as well as a medium-temperature kit for lead-free reflow and wavesolder applications.

The standard-temperature kit (Part# TC-TK-09-36) contains nine standard temperature TCs, 1 Vol glass thermally insulated sleeve and 6" aluminum tape. The material is Type K Chromel/Alumel and the insulation is PFA singes and PFA overall, while the insulation rating is 260C maximum. The TC wires are available in black, brown, red, purple, green, blue, orange, gray, white, yellow, pink and clear. With a size of 30 AWG, 0.100" and 0.254 mm, the standard-temperature kit features a reading range of -73C to 260C and a special limits of error of ±1.1C or ±0.4 percent.

The medium-temperature kit (Part# TC-TKM-09-36) contains nine colored medium-temperature TCs, 1 Vol glass thermally insulated sleeve and 6" aluminum tape. The material for this kit is Type K Chromel/Alumel and the insulation is glass serve singles and glass braid overall, while the insulation rating is 400C maximum. The TC wires are available in an array of colors, including black, brown, red, purple, green, blue, orange, gray and white (colors are tracers in the main bundle and disappear about 250C). With a size of 30 AWG, 0.100" and 0.254 mm, the medium-temperature kit features a reading range of -73C to 400C and a special limits of error of ±1.1C or ±0.4 percent.
