KIC Prophet Training Syllabus

I. Goals

The KIC Prophet Training is a four hour class designed to train an oven, furnace, or wave solder machine operator to use the KIC Prophet Thermal Monitoring System with the WinKIC Windows (TM) compatible software. The goal of the class is to train up to three people to:

The KIC Prophet Training class will be broken up into two distinct 2 hour segments. The first part will occur in a classroom setting where the students will review the KIC hardware and will learn critical software features by running a step-by-step software tutorial on the computer. The second part will be hands-on instruction on the factory floor where the users will actually run a profile and setup an Virtual Profile.

II. Class Preparation

The following items must be available at the start of the class:

III. Training Materials

The following materials will be supplied by the KIC instructor:

IV. Training Outline

During the training session, the KIC Instructor will not touch the keyboard or mouse unless absolutely necessary. In both the classroom and hands-on setting, the students will be required to run the computer.

Classroom Training

The following items will be covered in the two hour classroom segment of the training session. There should be plenty of time for the instructor to answer any questions that arise during the session and the students will be expected to ask enough questions that they understand the first Example before proceeding to the next Example.

The students may want to write notes in the manual and on the Software Tutorial handout.

Hands-On Training

This two hour segment of the training session will take place on the shop floor using a solder reflow oven, wave solder machine, or other conveyorized thermal process that has been previously fitted with the KIC Prophet system. It is assumed that the KIC Prophet has been correctly installed and the WinKIC software has been loaded and properly initialized. Also, a PCB should be available with thermocouples already attached. This session builds on the knowledge acquired by the student in the classroom training. Even experienced KIC users are discouraged from taking only the hands-on training. There should be plenty of time to ask questions and the students are encouraged to do so.

The hands on training will follow the WinKIC Prophet Quick-Start Manual very closely. The students may want to write notes directly in the manual.
